South Carolina Tourism

South Carolina tourism continues to grow with the number of visitors to the city increasing each year. This is due mostly to the fact that South Carolina has so much to offer when it comes to attractions, recreation, shopping, events and great hotels. A super choice in hotels is The Marriott Columbia Hotel. Located in the heart of downtown Columbia, it offers its guests the convenience of being close to many of the local attractions and highlights of the city. In addition, it’s a first class hotel when it comes to accommodations and service. Their well-trained staff is friendly and courteous and works hard to make sure guests have a pleasant and memorable stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and are filled with convenient and complimentary amenities that create an ambiance that makes you feel like you never left home. They also have many extra features throughout the hotel, such as an indoor pool and whirlpool and a great fitness center. And for those traveling for business there’s full service business center available.

South Carolina tourism is on the rise because there are so many great things to see and do here. Whatever you enjoy doing, you’re sure to find something that will entertain you or enlighten you in this city.

If you enjoy wildlife, then you’ll enjoy a trip to The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. It is an immense animal and plant reserve representing more than 350 different species of animals as well as over 2,000 animals from various parts of the world. Every animal is housed in an area that is specially created to replicate their natural habitat. For example, the African Plains exhibit is a 2-acre reproduction of the African Savanna. Here you will find giraffes, zebras, and ostriches living together as you would in Africa. To see a display of the animals from “down under” take a walk over to the Koala Knockabout. Whatever exhibits you get to see you’re guaranteed to see some amazing animals. The Riverbanks Zoo is an integral part of South Carolina tourism.

Many visitors who visit Columbia, South Carolina come to visit Fort Jackson. This U.S. Army initial Entry Training Center has played an important part of American history since 1917. Each year 50% of all soldiers and 70% of the women in the army are trained here. That means approximately 50,000 basic training and advanced individual training soldiers a year. Fort Jackson is a huge compound covering more than 52,000 acres of land. The community consists of soldiers, civilians, retirees and family members and is considered home to 3,900 active duty soldiers and their families. It’s a wonderful place to visit that’s filled with American history.

With so many wonderful attractions in Columbia it’s not surprising how much South Carolina tourism has grown. Why don’t you plan a visit and discover what South Carolina can offer you? It’ll be a vacation you’ll never forget especially if you stay at The Marriott Columbia.
